Camper, 2019 Camp Eclipse was transformative. It helped me to embrace who I am, find wonderfully queer folks, and strengthen my confidence. I've been to camp just once, but I know that it will become a yearly tradition. Looking forward to seeing all the queers in the years to come!
Camp Eclipse helped me become who I am today. When I attended I was struggling with everything in life, I didn’t know where I really fit with people around me. I wanted somewhere that I could just be myself and I got this. I remember many things from that short time that still come into my mind.
Without camp I would of never been able to get to the point I am right now. I’m almost graduated college and I’ve been married to an amazing man for 3 years now. Being Bi I never knew where I fit in but at camp? I was accepted. No one ever turned their back on me. Youth Leader 2013-2015; Mentor 2016, 2018 I credit Camp Eclipse for who I am today. It's been said time and time again that camp is magical. Once you attend Camp it's something no one can deny. It's like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it. Camp Eclipse is a place where everyone is welcomed and embraced, where laughter is plentiful, and each person's struggles are supported by 50 other people. It's a place where strength and vulnerability become one.
Camper 2009; Youth Leader 2010, 2011; Coordinator 2016; Mentor 2017, 2018 Camp Eclipse is … magical. That’s one of the first words you’ll hear from past campers, youth leaders, and mentors – “Camp magic.” There’s a certain air of love, acceptance, strength, community, and resiliency that you experience at Camp that I’ve never truly found anywhere else. You are unconditionally loved at Camp and you’re welcomed with open arms into an ever-growing Camp Family.
Camp Eclipse means more than just acceptance. I am not accepted at camp. No ... I am embraced; I am understood; and I am celebrated for who I am, for what I can achieve, and for what I have to give. Camp Eclipse means having a family of people who truly understands what it is like to be LGBTQ and it means not having to walk the path alone.
